Discussion
Have you ever made a snowball decision? One that seemed small, insignificant, inconsequential at the time, but as it rolled along it became bigger and eventully was out of control? We have proabaly all been there to some extent when life seems to get out of control and we are grasping at anything to hangon through the thick of it.
Abraham was the line of the Israelite nation. Abrahman is also called the father of the faith – stopping at nothing to honor God’s instructions. While Abraham was not perfect, we can seea shining example in his life of honoring God
Lot was the nephew of God’s servant Abraham and was raised in large part by Abraham. We wonder how Lot went from the example of Abraham to living in a place like Sodom and Gomorrah. Maybe his intention was just to stay there for few days or weeks while passing through. As the story unforlds, however, we see just how corrupt Lot had become in his time there. It seems he had fled from everything Godly and fully immersed his family in the sinful culture of the area. Yet, God was faithful to Abrhaman and faithful to Lot. When judgement was to rained down on them, God sent angels to rescue Lot and his family.
Connection
When was a time in your life that you found yourself living faithfully to God?
When was a time of the opposite? When you seemed to be living in all things against God?
How did that begin?
Has that time of rebellion come to an end? If so, how did that end come?
What lessons did you learn from both of these experiences? The faithful and the unfaithful?
